Track your activity

Replay the hand
The replayer restores the sequence of actions. Find the moment your plan became unclear without letting the final result dictate your analysis.
Keep statistics readable
On compatible poker sites, the HUD displays observed table tendencies. Customise its profiles and detail popups to suit your habits.
Start with a question you encounter often. “How do I play pots out of position?” leads to a more useful review than “Why is my graph going down?”
Read a useful HUD in context
Begin with a few statistics you understand. Hand count, VPIP, PFR and 3-bet give you a first impression; consult the detail when you need it.

The gap between VPIP and PFR invites a look at hands played without a preflop raise. For 3-bet, check the opportunities: 8% over a few situations means something different from 8% over several hundred. Position, stacks and previous actions always complete the picture.
VPIP
How often a player voluntarily invests money preflop. Useful for gauging their level of activity.
PFR
Preflop raise frequency. Read it alongside VPIP to understand how the player enters pots.
3-bet
Re-raise frequency when an opportunity arises. Also check which position the raise is against.
An action seen at showdown is worth a note too: it can reveal a habit more clearly than a statistic with little supporting data.

Isolate comparable hands
Choose stakes and a period, then hands played in the big blind. Narrow this to pots where you called a button open at similar stack depths.

Look at decisions, not just the biggest pots
Include winning hands and small pots too. Otherwise you may only review dramatic confrontations and miss a recurring habit.

Pause before the difficult action
Note the pot, opponent’s bet size, your hand and plausible ranges. Ask what led you to choose between calling, raising and folding.

Formulate a study question
For example: which hands can continue on this flop against a small bet? Then compare the spot with an appropriate GTO Wizard solution.
What a productive session leaves you with
A better-understood situation and a precise question for your next review. Net winnings from the big blind alone cannot judge your defence: you pay a forced bet there every orbit.
Get started without spending all evening on settings
Start with your poker site
Check its PT4 setup guide for import and HUD support. On GGPoker, for example, PokerCraft histories are used for post-session reviews; there is no live HUD.
Put your first session in the database
Use the wizard to install PT4 and its database, then select your poker site’s hand-history folder. Import a session and check that the hands match your screen name.

Is PokerTracker 4 worth it?
Yes, for a regular player who wants to track sessions and study their own hands. Reports, filters and replays give reviews a useful structure. The HUD adds convenience at tables that allow it. If you are still learning the basics, start with the free guides, then use the 14-day trial once you have an initial playing routine.
Does PokerTracker 4 work on Mac?
Yes. PokerTracker 4 is available for Windows and macOS, and the same licence covers both. Some fast-fold HUD functions and third-party add-ons differ on Mac; your poker site’s setup guide explains the appropriate configuration.
Can you use PokerTracker 4 on GGPoker?
You can import hand histories and tournament summaries downloaded from PokerCraft for post-session analysis. Live HUDs are not permitted on GGPoker. Importing hands and displaying table statistics are therefore separate uses.
