Hand2Note vs PokerTracker 4 (2026): which tracker fits your game?

Both import your hand histories, show a HUD and help you review your sessions. The real differences are the pricing model (subscription or one-time licence), how far the HUD adapts to the hand, and what your poker room allows. Here is how they compare, including where PokerTracker 4 is the better buy.

Price over one and two years

Same goal, two pricing models. The figures are the publishers’ list prices in US dollars; Hand2Note’s first year includes our 10% code.

Micro stakes

Hand2Note Learner (cash up to NL25, tournaments up to $22): $172.69 for the first year with the code ($191.88 list), then $191.88, so $364.57 over two years. PokerTracker 4 Hold’em Small Stakes (up to NL50, tournaments up to $22): $64.99 once, or $109.98 over two years if you take the $44.99 update plan.

All stakes, Hold’em

Hand2Note Pro: $421.20 for the first year with the code, then $468, so $889.20 over two years. PokerTracker 4 Hold’em, all stakes: $99.99 once, or $169.98 over two years with the $69.99 update plan.

Hold’em + Omaha, all stakes

Hand2Note Pro covers every game for the same price ($889.20 over two years). PokerTracker 4 Hold’em + Omaha: $159.99 once, or $259.98 over two years with the $99.99 update plan.

On price alone, PokerTracker 4 wins clearly. Hand2Note costs more because it is a subscription with more HUD and report depth; it is worth it if you will really use dynamic HUDs, custom reports or PLO5/PLO6. The two 14-day trials let you check before paying. Without PT4’s update plan you keep your version, but you lose compatibility fixes when a poker site changes its hand histories.

03

Dynamic or static HUD, and what your room allows

A static HUD shows the same stat in every situation, such as a player’s overall 3-bet. Hand2Note can also show positional and dynamic HUDs, which change the stats on display according to position and the action in the hand, so you see the number that matters right now. PokerTracker 4’s HUD is highly customisable, with popups and stats you can filter by position, but it stays static at the table.

That difference is also a question of rules. PokerStars bans stats that change automatically with the game state: Hand2Note switches off its dynamic and positional HUDs there on its own, and keeps static HUDs, notes and popups. Winamax’s terms allow trackers (PokerTracker and HoldemManager are named) but ban certain dynamic Hand2Note features, and Winamax checks running processes while its client is open. Since 15 October 2026, GGPoker has required both programs to be fully closed before its client launches; it has not said whether importing PokerCraft histories afterwards is tolerated.

So if you mainly play on PokerStars or Winamax, Hand2Note’s advantage at the table shrinks, and PokerTracker 4’s static HUD covers what is allowed. Hand2Note’s edge then lies in reports and post-session analysis.

Games, Mac and setup

For Omaha players the gap is real. Hand2Note handles PLO4, PLO5, PLO6 and Short Deck. PokerTracker 4 covers Hold’em and 4-card Omaha, as separate or combined licences, and does not list 5-card PLO on its product page. Both run on Windows and macOS: Hand2Note offers separate builds for Apple silicon and Intel Macs, and a PokerTracker 4 code works on two computers at once. Both import your hand histories automatically while you play on supported sites. Start with one session to check your screen name and the HUD before importing your whole history.

05

Switching from PokerTracker 4 to Hand2Note

You do not have to start from zero. Hand2Note can import a PokerTracker 4 database directly (Database → Import From Database; the database is usually detected automatically), or you can re-import your hand-history files. Your notes transfer too (.pt4notes files). HUDs and popups do not, so plan to rebuild your HUD in Hand2Note’s editor. For iPoker hands, Hand2Note recommends importing the room’s original files rather than the ones PT4 converted.

After the tracker: studying the spots it finds

Neither tracker tells you the right play. It finds the hands that cost you money: a big-blind defence that is too passive, 3-bet pots you misplay. The next step is to open that spot in a solver. GTO Wizard’s Free plan gives you up to 100 preflop solutions and one postflop spot a day, enough to check the leaks your tracker surfaces.

Hand2Note vs PokerTracker 4: FAQ

Is Hand2Note better than PokerTracker 4?

It is more advanced, not better for everyone. Hand2Note has dynamic and positional HUDs, deeper custom reports and PLO5/PLO6 support. PokerTracker 4 is simpler to own: a one-time licence from $64.99, a static HUD that fits strict room rules, plus LeakTracker and ICM tools. Try both: each has a 14-day free trial.

Which is cheaper, Hand2Note or PokerTracker 4?

PokerTracker 4. Hold’em at all stakes costs $99.99 once, with optional updates at $69.99 a year. Hand2Note is a yearly subscription: Learner costs $191.88 a year (micro stakes) and Pro $468 a year. Code H2NKFUG takes 10% off your first purchase.

Can I use Hand2Note or PokerTracker 4 on GGPoker?

Not while you play. Since 15 October 2026 GGPoker requires both to be fully closed before you launch its client, so there is no HUD and no live tracking. GGPoker has not said whether importing PokerCraft histories for later review is tolerated, so check its current rules.

Are they allowed on PokerStars and Winamax?

PokerTracker 4 fits both: its static HUD matches PokerStars’ rules, and Winamax’s terms name PokerTracker among the allowed trackers. Hand2Note works with limits: on PokerStars it switches off its dynamic and positional HUDs automatically, and Winamax bans certain dynamic Hand2Note features. Winamax also bans solvers and ICM calculators such as ICMIZER during play.

Do Hand2Note and PokerTracker 4 work on Mac?

Yes, both do. Hand2Note has builds for Apple silicon and Intel Macs; PokerTracker 4 runs on Windows and macOS, with one code usable on two computers. Check your poker site’s setup guide, because HUD support can differ by room.

Which tracker is better for PLO?

Hand2Note, if you play 5- or 6-card PLO: it supports both, plus Short Deck. For classic 4-card PLO, PokerTracker 4 sells Omaha and Hold’em + Omaha licences.

Can I move my PokerTracker 4 database to Hand2Note?

Yes. Hand2Note imports PT4 databases directly and can import your PT4 notes; you have to rebuild your HUDs and popups.

Do I need a tracker if I already use GTO Wizard?

They do different jobs. A tracker shows what happened in your games and where you lose; GTO Wizard shows what a solver would do in those spots. Most regulars use one of each.

Still undecided?

Run both 14-day trials over the same week of sessions. If you keep opening custom reports or want the HUD to adapt to the hand, take Hand2Note with code H2NKFUG. If a clean static HUD and a one-off price are all you need, PokerTracker 4 is the sensible buy.
